IT'S RAINING...FINALLY! :)

I can't remember the last time it rained. I LOVE IT! Now if only it would snow! :) Chris and I were driving home today after visiting with Phyllis Lane and the other great people of Couture Books (more on that later) and I told him that I would love to do our family photos in the rain. Of course, he's giving me that look like, "you're crazy." So when we get home I grab the camera and tell him to get his glasses and come outside. He's such a good sport that he doesn't go out kicking and screaming. After spending about 3-5 minutes this is what I came up with. Awe...my husband is a supermodel. ;) (at least in my eyes.) This definitely makes up for the Halloween picks that I posted up of him. :)

We Survived...

Yes, we survived the Thanksgiving weekend. I don't think Chris or I picked up the camera once Thanksgiving day. He was too busy cooking and I was busy trying to relax, which I realized was kind of hard for me to do.
Chris didn't even ask me once to help cook. (I think that says a lot about my cooking when I do cook. hmmm?) These are all the images I have to show. Sorry. And don't let these cute faces fool you. They are full of energy, and complete LOUDNESS! As you may all know, we only have ONE child and he's loud as it is, but to add three more boys all around the same age is complete madness. Don't get me wrong, I love them. I love them a lot, but thank goodness Chris and I only agreed to have only two kids. I don't know how my sister does it, but she does, and she's a pro! I envy her. If she could have more kids she would. In a heart beat. And let's not forget the only little girl in the family. She's a cutie and so content with everything that happens around her. The only time you hear a peep out of her is when she wants to eat and even then she's not loud. :)

Chris & Rebekah...

There is so much that I can say about these two...all good things of course.:) They are the two most kind hearted people. We have all become good friends since they met with us to inquire about photographing their wedding. Not only did we do their engagement shoot, we've done a boudoir shoot with Rebekah, then it was their beautiful wedding and then soon will come trashing the dress. :) Yippie!
Chris is graphic designer and was completely up for anything when we would suggest things. I LOVE IT! Rebekah, well...she kept saying she "trusts us." :) I LOVE IT!
Thanks guys for letting us be a part of your day. :)

On the Personal Side.

Last Week I returned to my first home in Northern New Mexico, near the Four Corners. I dropped everything and left rather quicklly, you see I spent a large portion of my life(practicaly raised) with my grandmother and grandfather. My grandfather had passed when I was a teenager and at the time I lived in Wyoming and wasn't able to see him. So when I heard that my grandmother was very ill I left to return home. With fear lingering in the back of my mind I grabbed what I could, including my son and left. The six hour drive didn't help very much, having to much time to think can be a bit exhausting.

Before I left I had called the hospital where she was being treated. I spoke with the doctor Briefly and he had told me she had pnuemonia, was recovering but had been hospitalized for 4 days and was being released but would not share any other information about her condition over the phone. UGh!!!

I arrived at her home in the evening, my heart sunk when I saw her. She was absolutely exhausted and could barely speak. She had lost soo much weight, she had told me that she had just been in bed all day. I was absolutely floored that the hospital released her like this!! But she told me she was fine and she wanted to just stay home. I respected her wishes.

The next day, I couldn't believe it, She was up and walking around and seemed soo much better than the day before!! It seemed as though she wasn't even sick!! And she hadn't even picked up her meds from the pharmacy yet. My brother had come in the previous evening and our plan was just to spend as much time as possible with my grandmother and stock her up for the coming winter.

The next few days I found myself walking around the property and photographing the things that I've never really noticed before. Things that I knew had alot of meaning and value but things that as a child and a teenager I took for granted.

As a photographer I have the explicit privilge of capturing moments in people's lives. These moments are sometimes very personal and private, others they are full of joy and pride. These images that I create are deeply rooted in emotion and personal history, they are treasured by the people that I share them with. Often I find myself in a position that allows me safety because rarely do I share my personal memories with anyone other than my family. This blog is our chance at sharing some of the emotion and personal history in our lives. It gives people a chance to look at the things that we cherish and love. Behind the camera there is a human being, a story to be told. This is my story.

A few facts on my grandmother; she has 2 birthdays and 2 birth certificates. She grew up on the Navajo reservation before Social security numbers, or birth certificates were used (on the Rez). Her aunt who raised her said she was born around the same time the lambs were being born. She had come through the "old" boarding schools where they cut off your hair and made you speak only english. She could shoot a Coyote from 500 yds away. The things most important in her life is her family, land, and sheep. The Navajo Rugs that she makes are considered to be done in the "old way" and are rarely found these days. Everything in her rugs are hand crafted including the wool she spins from sheering her own sheep. She can live on less than $200 a month, and still have an abundance of food. She still tends her crops and her livestock. Shes worked all her life and refuses to rest! She and my grandfather refused a large uranium mine settlement because the believed the money would cause conflict among family members.

The Wii...
Yes, I gave in or as Chris would put it, I got "lucky" buying the Wii. It has been the hardest thing to come by. While Chris and Treston were gone over the weekend I found myself at Target at 8:00 in the morning. Why 8am? I'm still not sure. But for some weird reason I briskley walked over to the electronics to see by chance if they had it in and THEY DID?! WHAT?! PRESSURE! So of course I stood there trying to think of different reasons why we really don't need it...the cost...the additional games that would have to be bought...my husband's addiction...blah blah blah. But all I could see was how happy it would make Chris. He had a tough weekend and I'm sure this will somehow lift his spirits up. So I gave in, and as I sit here typing away, my lovely husband is in the other room playing the wii. :)...Addiction! But guess what? I was back at Target the next day, (yes I live there too) and they already sold out of 58 boxes!!!

Home Alone...
These past couple of days I have been home alone. What a quiet house it is. I've heard things that I haven't heard in a long time...quietness. It's kind of creepy if you ask me but then again peaceful. I've been able to take showers without a 2 year old waiting outside the door asking, "mommy, I want milk, mommy I want milk." I don't have a husband asking, "did you get this done, have you called so and so?"
Ahhh, what a quiet home it is, but I think I only enjoyed it the first day. Yes, I miss my boys. Treston called me 4 times today, and my heart sunk each time. I have 3 mores days to go. What ever shall I do besides edit a ton of engagements, weddings, and seniors?! And yes, I have been editing away! :) I've gotten a lot done. The husband will be proud ;)

Happy Email...
It feels good when we get emails like this from our clients. :) It definitely helps us to recharge our batteries and makes us LOVE our job that much MORE!! Thanks Cindy. :)

What a Massively Busy Week!!!

So after shooting various engagements, portraits, 3 Day Event, 2 weddings, 1 Rehearsal and a partridege in a pear tree....We get a break for a few hours before we're off to take on some family pics!!! We've shot close to midnigth almost every day for the past 6 days AND we're thirsty for more!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
Well this isn't really Treston's outfit for Halloween. We just thought it would be a good time for Treston to try on this outfit since he's really not into changing his clothes; must be a boy thing. He got this from Japan from our dear friend Yuya. THANKS SO MUCH! :) He was a little upset he wasn't putting on his Buzz Lightyear outfit.
Next Outfit, and of course Isaac sporting his Ninja.

And let's not forget Chris's outfit. If you've read our bio then you would know he was in the Navy LIKE in 2002! He was just suprised he could still button up his pants. ;) He's going to kill me for posting this. And no I haven't figured out my outfit but I'm sure Chris will post something later...

Schnepf Farms...
Over the weekend we took Treston and our nephew Isaac to Schnepf Farms. Little did we know what we had in store for us. After about driving 20 or 30 minutes we finally arrive to our destination. As we're driving in, dust is just blowing everywhere. Chris and I have this look on our face, "do we dare?" And of course, he has this look on his face, "you better not change your mind after making a whole trip out here." So we precede with our little outing, and surely the wind isn't going to last the whole time we're here...ummm, wrong!
As we're getting out I'm thinking I didn't pack any snacks for the kids or water for that matter, "what kind of mother am I?!...ugh. I'll just have to buy the $4.00 water inside, and of course I didn't bring cash, do I need cash? I hope they take plastic or I'm screwed." :)
I wasn't expecting the farm to be as big as it was. People were walking in with all sorts of goodies and snacks and wagons with their kids. But as our little adventure turns out we managed to see some goats, cows, and pigs. Aren't there more animals on a farm? Oh well, the boys were happy. We even got on a bee ride that I so gladly volunteered to stand in line for. Almost an hour later, I was ready to shoot myself for another great idea I came up with. And of course, Chris and I managed to pick TWO BEES that didn't even lift during the whole ride. How's that for a laugh. :p All in all, we had a great time having somewhat of a day off. Later that day, we headed to do a day after session. But here are some images from the farm. :)

And no we did not manage to get this high on the ride. :(

I'm really not sure what is going on through his mind, gotta love that expression. :) And need I say more about the dust?

Okay, so I'm the biggest airhead. :) I completely spaced off posting Danny & Viorica's slideshow. Oops!
These two were quite the pair. I cannot say enough about how nice and sweet Viorica is. She was stunning the day of her wedding, but then again when is she not. :) And Danny, his dad was his bestman. I think that says a lot about the kind of guy he is.
Everything about their wedding was beautiful! And the song to the slideshow was the song Viorica walked down the aisle to. :)

Between our weddings
Well we survived the weekend! Now it's editing time... Now if only I could get a wedding edited in 3 hrs like David Jay. :o)

I think Saturday was one of our craziest days because we downloaded the cards from the night before and with everything that comes with getting ready before a wedding. We even made it to brunch with Raya and Faith because Raya was only in town until Sunday, and lunch with the two of them is an opportunity not to be missed. :) They definitely kept us laughing thru our two hours of brunch. I almost forgot we had a wedding to be at in a couple of hours.

Anyhow, we get home to gather our stuff and head off to the wedding in downtown Phoenix. BUT, there's always a BUT, right before we're leaving we can't find two of our CF cards. UGH! We almost said forget it but hesitant to stop looking, and to our suprise after about 20 minutes of tracking down our son's hiding places we find it...see below. 2 YEAR OLDS!!!!

I've been trying to get myself to blog everyday or close to everyday should I say. But by the end of the day I feel so scattered brain with phone calls, follow ups, sessions, weddings, marketing, and what to cook for dinner, wait a minute, I don't cook dinner. :) Anyhow, I hope our blogging comes to find some people interested in what we're up to.

There are a few sessions that I could post but I'm trying to get slideshows done. I PROMISE I will complete our slideshows and post them up here in the next couple of days. We are very close to completing our recent sessions, a killer senior session and a wedding, because we have THREE weddings this weekend. Yes, three! We will be VERY, VERY busy Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Are we crazy, maybe a little, but we're very excited at the same time. :)

a budior shoot for your future husband in the streets of downtown phoenix on a Saturday Night...Priceless! :)

Are we daring, crazy or just soo far outside the box that we have no idea what we're doing? Talk about an adventure! Shooting our very courageous bride to be in the busy streets of downtown phoenix in her underwear was such an adrenaline rush! Yep we're officially junkies!! So how did we talk her into doing this? "Imagine shooting in the club infested streets of downtown Phoenix on a Saturday night, all the lights, sounds and people, now imagine yourself being shot in just your underwear!"(PUN intended). I've had many Nightmares about being in just my underwear! But Wow(!) Rebecca was a trooper and then some! She gets mad props for having no fear! fantastic Job and even more...fantastic photos!!

ASU 44 vs. Oregon State 32
After a long afternoon of scouting for a new location of shooting we headed out to a tailgate party at ASU. Unfortunately, we're not huge football fans or sport fans for that matter but we couldn't pass up hanging out with some friends. We didn't even to go to the game. Besides I would much rather chase my son around the house than at a huge stadium and take numerous trips to the bathroom. ahhh...the joys of being a parent. :)

I think we were the only ones not sporting ASU's colors...oops!

I've never had anyone close to me that has been affected by breast cancer, but it's still has been a great concern to me. Breast Cancer Awareness month is quickly approaching. Leine with BlueOrchid Designs and Cicely with Lifestyle Events posted an interesting insight.

WILLOW GROCERY
If you are ever in need of some great bread and fresh Groceries check out the Willow Grocery in Phoenix. (530 W McDowell Rd, Phoenix AZ 85003) For those of you who don't live in AZ, well...bummer. :) Chris and I head there for lunch occasionally and grab some of their Fresh Foccacia Pizza. YUM! They also have these "Organic" mangos that are to die for, absolutely fantastic! The sweet and juicy taste just marinates in your senses! Right next to willow grocery is My Florist Cafe which has EXCELLENT food and some jazz too. A definite must when you're in downtown Phoenix!

My nephew Isaac was indulging in all the sweet samples they had. Load him with sugar, become his favorite aunt, and give him back to his mom. ;)

OK, so I guess I'm the BIGGEST procrastinator! Kim Jarman, Kate Federico, Ross Tanner and my lovely husband tagged me to do this "eight levels of narcissism" thing. At first I couldn't think of anything to write about, and since I waited so long, I thought I could just slide by not writing anything. Then today I looked at our blog thinking I need to at least post "something" but wasn't sure what. And then, I hear my husband's annoying voice in the background, "We need to update our blog, why don't you do your eight levels thing"...ugh, I forgot about that. So here it goes.

8 Levels of Narcissism (Tammie)
1.) I cant' make up my mind for anything. It's horrible and it annoys the heck out of Chris.

2.) I'm not a compulsive buyer, but if it's on sale, I will find some excuse to buy it.

3.) I am the most unorganized organized person ever. I have a nice stack of paper work waiting to be filed, but I know exactly where everything is.

4.) I really don't know how to cook. Chris actually does a majority of the cooking. Whenever he asks me to cook, I say, "How does subway sound?" (He's not a big fan of subway) :)

5.) I used to be allergic to the sun/heat...you ask why? I don't know. The doctors don't know. who knows, but my body has finally become accustomed to the heat. Why in the heck did I even move to AZ? ...college/scholarship.

6.) I'm a huge fashion queen but funny enough no one believes me.

7.) The first time I ditched school, I got caught by the police and they took me back to school. I didn't ditch again until my senior year in high school. Does this only happen in small towns?

8.) I hate being in front of the camera. Whenever Chris says he needs to photograph me for some insane reason I will try to look as goofy as possible. For me, its some weird way hiding what I really look like I guess....and here is one of the many images. What's a post without a photo. :o)

SPA 2008 - Senior Portrait Artist
SPA is an organization of Senior Portrait Artist Photographers across America. We were so very excited to become members of such a great organization. SPA is holding their annual event in Jan. 2008 and were running a contest for the front cover of the brochure. The Brochure will be mailed and seen by 8000 photographers across the U.S.! There were lots of great images that were submitted and we were VERY EXCITED and HONORED that one of Chris's images got chosen among 6 other top photographers. Voting has been going on for the last few days and then it was narrowed down to the final four(all are below). This morning we were anxiously awaiting the results(drum roll)...We got it!!!!!!!! and a many thanks to our gorgeous 2007 senior, Chantell.

Just had to share...
This evening I was looking for Treston because it was time for bed. I kept calling his name and he wouldn't answer. I come around the corner and I see him at the the table munching away on chips. HE LOVES CHIPS, especially since he's really not allowed to eat them. My first reaction was to get his attention and catch him off guard. But instead I grabbed the camera. So I sneak up behind the table and start snapping away and I was so taken back by his reaction when he "caught me".

We have actually gotten better at blogging, but I've been kinda horrible about posting images from our recent sessions. You're probably thinking, "aren't these guys photographers, where is their WORK?!" We miss him TONS and it hasn't even been a full day!!! It's so tough being a parent sometimes. Treston went with his grandma back to NM this afternoon for a family reunion. Chris and I weren't able to make it because of a couple of shoots and a wedding we have to do this weekend. It's soooo hard finding a babysitter when you don't have a whole lot of family around. Thankfully my mom was more than willing to take him on a six hour road trip back to NM and hang out with him for the weekend. Aren't mom's the best?!

After much anticipation from Adrienne, her slideshow is finally here!! There is so much to say about these two. I don't even know where to begin and I can't even explain it in words. They are the most kind hearted people. There wedding was amazing not only because of the details they might have put into but it was the love they had for each other, and it showed. These two were in heaven all day with each other. They just couldn't stop smiling. I'll quit typing, because their slideshow speaks for itself. :)

Showcase Postponed...

Unfortunately we will have to postpone our showcase event for Aug 29. As it is, we currently cannot dedicate the time that we'd like to make it a phenomenal congregation of creativity. We underestimated our workload for the summer and of course our clients come first. So with great sadness I will be contacting all those who RSVP'd to let you know personally. With a little help this time, we are going to shoot for the end of October...midweek. Sorry Guys! Stay Tuned!

Treston loves being outside, although, I'm not sure why because its soooo hot out there. While Chris was watering the plants he showed Treston how to use the water hose. Needless to say, Chris didn't realize right away what was coming to him, but I'm glad he kept shooting away. I love the expression on Treston's face right before he points the hose at Chris. :o)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!

I can't believe how time flies. Today we're celebrating our 3rd anniversary. Yes, we've only been married for 3 years, but we have been together since our senior year in high school. awwwwe...And a wonderful 3 years it has been. I'm looking forward to the rest of the years to come.

When we hired our photographer, Mr. DeDios, I explained to him that Chris is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE at taking pictures. Anytime a camera is put up in front of him, his face just cringes and you can't get a decent photo out of him. So here is our little take on getting one traditional photo for the family, and yes, we only got one. :) click on the image if you would like to see it larger.

Confessions Showcase.

We are going to be holding this little meeting on the 29th of August. The Plan and objective:

We are bringing together local professional photographers to share our experiences and discuss marketing, pricing, shooting technique, the creative process and any other information photogs would like to share or know.

It will be an open forum discussion. Everyone in attendance will be asked to provide info about their studio/service so we may compile marketing info available to everyone in attendance.

First half - Only open to photographers and industry professionals.
- Marketing
- Pricing
- Vendors
- Photog resources

Second half - Open to everyone
- Camera basics - may drop depends on everyone's level of expertise.
- Basic Technique/shooting style
- Photoshop

Time frame
9-11:30 First half

12:00 - 4 Second half

We're open to suggestions for topics. We have a small group of about 6 people thus far who will be in attendance. We may limit to 20, depending on the response we get. If you'd like to attend Email me at:

8 Levels of Narcissism (of Chris)

As entertaining as I am, Melissa Jill has decided to call me out and have me post a few things, interesting things about myself....myself. Interesting things? uhmmm Maybe here goes:

1. I have this inate tendency to spell almost every other word that I read, which makes me a slow reader but a great sPellor!

2. I boast a Comic book collection worth Thousands of Dollars....Really just because I have thousands of them, boxes Even!

3. Although My career is as a world famous photographer extrodinare, my formal education and life ambitions is in Real Estate and Community Development, with a degree and everything!

4. I've designed and built 2 homes with a 3rd on the way, trying to further the realm of affordable housing!

5. I have the attention span of a 2 year old...

6. I secretly try to outshoot my wife during our Photog sessions! Nothing like a little healthy competition!

7. I have this little area on the rear of my waist where I use to get shots as a kid; now as a grown up if anything comes into contact with it my body goes into uncontrollable spasms! yeah I'm a weirdo! Talk about scarred for life!

8. My all time favorite lunch is 2 pieces of White bread, Bar S Bologna(none of that all beef crap), Miracle Whip and a bag of Doritos Nacho Flavored with Bean Dip. And if I could eat this in the Mountains...Bliss.

Broken Coffee Table, trip to EQ3!

We we're cleanin out our office the other day and guess what happened!? Chris was moving the glass coffee table and he dropped the bottom shelf and shattered it! Ugh! In our expeirence its almost always impossible to replace furniture parts because its usually out of style or costs just as much as the original piece of furniture.

So we went back to the store where we bought it: EQ3 in Tempe. It just so happened the owner happened to be there and we had told him what happened and wanted to reorder that particular piece. He told us we were in luck and he had it in stock. So he rushes to the back looking for it comes out says he can't find it, and asks us if the floor model will work? Sure. We take it off the floor, ask how much and......He says its totally fine accidents happen and to take it with his blessings....What!?!?!?! Chris and I were pleasantly surprised. We offered to pay for it, he wouldn't here it! He asked us just to take it! Not only did he not question or badger us, he was also extremely friendly and "on top" of things! Rarely has this ever happened to us, but when it does it makes your whole day/week that much better!

Summers in Phoenix!!

Not only is it 112 by noon in good ole PHX, but now its wet! The Monsoon is upon us much earlier this year than last year. Ugh now it feels like Florida! But it's also fairly slow with weddings and seniors, few people are brave enough to shoot in the heat, unless your Bryce! Anyway this gives us some much needed time to catch up and regroup. It also gives us time to collaborate with other photographers and build relationships in our market.

So Tammie and I want to host a brainstorming session in the next couple of weeks. It would be an open collaboration session where we go over shooting styles, marketing, and lessons learned. A very casual and informative session open to anyone willing to share their expeirences. So if your interested, let us know! Even if you aren't drop us some suggestions!.... We'll set a date when we know we have enough interested people!

MYSPACE PURGE.

Myspace has been an instrumental part of our success with High School Seniors. Over the Past year we have experimented with different types of Marketing techniques. Not all have been successful, although some have yielded well. So with the beginning of the New school year we will be implenting some new marketing strageties focusing specifically on 2008 seniors. So over the next few weeks we will be purging our friends list; anyone not specifially our friend will be purged (no offense to anyone, we're just moving forward), i.e.: anyone not a 2008 Senior or anyone we know personally. If we delete you and you still want to be on our friends list just shoot us over an email. You'll recieve emails, bulletins, and probably ads from us implement our marketing stragety.

We're starting our marketing to our new 2008 seniors. Now, how do you market to seniors you wonder, because of course we want to try something new and different, right? We want to be able to catch their attention and not just become another flyer, something they just recieved a couple of weeks ago. hmmmm? So why not look into what "Seniors" are looking at. What are they wearing, what are they doing, where are they going? yada yada... This is where it gets interesting. Chris and I were taken back when we came across this site by Abercrombie & Fitch. When you're with family you never seem to get a break from photographing. Chris's mom has been wanting us to photograph Chris's sister Gavelita f*o*r*e*v*er! She told us she had this great place to go and it would only take about 20-30 minutes to get there. So about an hour and a half later we were finally at our destination. I should have known it would take forever to get there when they suggested grabbing some munchies before we headed out. ;) I have to admit though it was gorgeous when we got there and a whole lot of wind!
We were taken back at how great and comfortable she was in front of the camera. There was no holding back from this chick. I can't believe she's 14!...eat your heart out Pocahontas. :o)

She dances in pow wows as a jingle dancer, so of course we had to document that part of her life.

We need a vacation from our vacation! :o) Here's a glimpse of what we were able to see on our vacation. Chris took this image of the Grand Canyon. Can you believe he's lived in Arizona for 5 years and has never been to the Grand Canyon! I think I've been about 4 or 5 times...don't ask me why either. I'm going to try to put a little video together of our little vacation. I really need to sit down and learn imovie, but I get so impatient and make up an excuse to move onto something else. Anywho, until tomorrow!...sorry the image is small.

We're slowly making the switch! I know, I know, PCs? What are you thinking? :) But we, or should I say I LOVE IT! Chris on the other hand is still trying to get used to it. You know how Mac's never crash, well it crashed on Chris 3 TIMES!!! swear! But we found out it was a software issue with the new CS3. Kind of funny when Chris was getting a little frustrated!;)

As for the ipod...LOVE it! Chris bought it for me for my birthday, but somehow he manages to use it more than I do. Men, and their technical gadgets. But it has been great for Chris since he just started working out again. He's lost 6 pounds thus far! I hate how he loses weight quicker than I do, we're not competitive at all. ;)

We did a shoot with Orozco Hair Salon. We normally don't do commercial shoots but we couldn't pass up on working with one the best Salons. It takes me forever to find the perfect stylist and when I came here I was completely hooked.
Here are a couple of images we did for Jason. His model is also an upcoming Senior this year at Hamilton High. She worked great in front of the camera.

A day at our house...
1. Have your son wake you up by spilling cold water on your face...Poor Chris. (it was hillarious!) Happy Fathers Day!
2. Take your almost 2yr old to watch Surfs Up but only to find out that the hallway is more entertaining to him.
3. Come home to find out that your tree split in half. (fyi, it's a 107 degrees outside) This beautiful tree was huge and it gave us soooo much shade...ugh! We're so bummed! :(

When we had originally met with them they were not up for seeing each other before the wedding, but after doing their engagement session and meeting up with them again before the wedding they were so set on seeing each other before the wedding. yay! Thoughts of the future....

School's done I can't believe it!!! First it was 6 years in the Navy, then 5 years in college + Summer School(changing your Major will set you back a bit). Its been a tough 11 years at one point I held 4 jobs, what a mistake that was. But these last few months were the most rigorous; trying to control a growing business, keeping up with a more than full college schedule, starting a new development project, and trying to dedicate time to my family was massively difficult. But I managed and I realize today how open the horizon is....Our future is what we make it to be. I've always told the people that I've mentored, "regardless of your greatest successes and your most dismal failures you most always KEEP MOVING FORWARD. Change is inevitable, we must always move towards it"

My Wife....

My wife and I have experienced so many changes over the past few years and not all of them were good, some were devastating losses and others life changing gains, but every step of the way she was always by my side, always. When I was on the other side of the World in Conflict, or on the other side of the state on some humanitarian effort, she supported me regardless of my cause; through thick and thin she was there. Behind every Man there is a great Woman holding him together and helping him to stay on track. Happy Mother's Day to some of the strongest Women in our lives....Thank you for being our strength.

A dangerous job or a clutz?

We were out shooting an engagment session with Tom & Michelle, and they wanted to incorporate Tom's car into the engagement session because it's one of his passions to restore vehicles. So we had this brilliant idea of heading out to the desert. We get there and we're stopped by security telling us we had to have a permit. I'm thinking, what in the heck is security doing out here?! Turns out we were on the property of a nearby resort. Chris then leaves to go and talk to whoever he needs to talk to. He turns to me and says, "keep shooting." Talk about being put on the spot! I'm standing there thinking, ideas?!, ideas?, ideas?!

We or I mean, "I" continue the session and we're trying to hurry because we had a pretty good feeling we had to reschedule for a later date and there was going to be fee. While I'm rushing around I scraped my foot on a piece of branch..ouch! My foot is sort of bleeding but I finish up until Chris gets back to tell us we have reschedule.

When we get home, Chris starts taking out these HUGE splinters. Very painful! (i'm a wimp) The next morning I wake up to find my foot swollen. Chris finally convinces me to go to the doctor because he said it's probably infected and I wouldn't want my foot cut off!! Rude!

I get to the doctors office, and it's infected. So the doctor puts me on antibiotics and gives me a tetnus shot! Turns out later that day, I have an allergic reaction to the shot. I started to break out in hives and my arms and face got super swollen! I go back to the doctors the next day and I'm given all these pills to take! Ugh!!!!! ...oh and I can't wait until their wedding at the end of the month. :o)

We are seriously horrible at blogging!!!!! It's not like we're sitting here twittling our thumbs or anything. We have been super busy!! I came across this photo that David De Dios Doritos and I took at wedding over the weekend. The Simple Things in Life.

A Moment of Silence.

Yesterday we received word that at 3:40 Sunday morning Cheri Williamson lost her battle with Cancer. She passed peacefully with her fiance and family at her side.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Williamson family and her fiance.

My wife and I sat full of regret wishing that we could have done much more to make her last few days more comfortable. We had received an email from her friend Michelle, with this excerpt: "I sat for a while with her mother and father who told me what joy she had in the last week of her life, planning and looking forward to her wedding day. Thank you for being a part of that with us. Although we were not able to fulfill the dream that we had hoped for, I am happy that Cheri was happy this last week." Any happiness or hope that we have provided was our explicit privilege.

Thank you so much to everyone who sent us emails and contacted us wanting to help, your concerns and well wishes we're much appreciated.

A VERY SPECIAL WEDDING

Recently we've been contacted by one of our brides whose dear friend has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. She shared with us her story of determination, positivity and undying love for her soon to be husband. We were so touched by their situation that we've decided to donate our time and resources to her wedding. I've attached a letter her friend, Michelle Christensen had written to the Dream Foundation. "I would like to introduce you to Cheri Williamson, a co-worker of mine and a very special person. Cheri is a beautiful 32 year old woman who, for the past year, has been battling a very rare form of cancer; only two prior cases are known, which has made medical treatment a challenge. Cheri has fought fearlessly and optimistically for her life with little support from family or friends. As can be expected with this disease, Cheri has experienced many hospital stays, sickness, loss of organs and hair, and indescribable stress and worry throughout this battle.

I have grown close to Cheri through this battle as I was inspired by her positive attitude, her faith, her desire to help others, and her courage. She is a person who cherishes life and would give of herself to anyone, even at her gravest moment. When visiting her in the hospital over the last few months, her concerns were never of herself, but rather of me and other co-workers who were suffering minimal trials in comparison to hers. For the last year her goal and motivation was to get well enough to return to work, recover from the financial consequences of her illness, and marry her true love, Jonathan. She and Jonathan had been talking of marriage for several months leading up to her diagnosis and have looked forward to celebrating her recovery with a wedding.

As Cheri’s condition has grown graver, our team of coworkers at the company we work for have united together to do all that we can to make Cheri more comfortable and help provide her with peace of mind. Several associates agreed to take on her business responsibilities so that she could return to work at the level of income she was accustomed to – not an easy responsibility for us, considering the high stress of a sales environment. During the month of January alone, our team of co-workers raised close to $10,000 within our organization to help Cheri with her past due living expenses. Two weeks ago, Cheri underwent surgery – colostomy and ileostomy. When we learned of the bags that are now attached to her body and her consciousness of them, several of us quickly set out on a shopping spree to re-wardrobe her with cute and comfortable attire.

Last week the tragic announcement was made that Cheri’s time is limited. Doctors estimate that she has just 90 days to live. As you can imagine, we are devastated at the inevitable pain of losing someone we love.

However, Cheri remains upbeat and positive and determined to make her last months as meaningful and special as possible. We want to help her fulfill this dream. 48 hours ago a we formed a committee here at work to host the wedding of Cheri’s dreams. We have been diligently contacting vendors, clients, any resources we can think of – to help with the costs and affairs of such a special event. We are quickly realizing that with our lack of expertise and Cheri’s life expectancy, we are surely over our heads with this commitment.
I imagine you may wonder why fulfilling this last dream is so important to a group of co-workers. The answer is simple – we are giving people who have found Cheri and Jonathan’s story to be truly inspiring. They are soulmates and two people who love each other unconditionally and would do ANYTHING for the other’s happiness.

Just a few nights ago I was visiting the two of them at the hospital and witnessed a tender exchange. Jonathan quit his job months ago to be able to care for Cheri in her condition. He has been at her side night and day. When I told him how impressive his dedication, his love, and support – he told me that this is just what you do for someone you love, someone you consider your best friend. Cheri asked Jonathan how he could love her, in her frail, bald, and unfeminine condition. Jonathan told her that her body is just a shell, his love for her is because of what is on the inside – and for that reason he will love her forever. I believe Jonathan is one in a million – In an age where chivalry is often forgotten and love is quickly doused with selfishness, I feel it is so important to recognize this love and devotion! I also passionately believe that every woman deserves her dream wedding, with the man of her dreams, in her dream dress and dream location. Please help us make this dream come true. We know that planning and look forward to her wedding day will have a dramatic impact on her remaining days.

There is a team of individuals aligned and ready to make this day come to fruition with your expertise and financial support. Please help us, for Cheri.

Our very First "First Friday"!!

So we've been way so busy trying to gear up for this First Friday! And Guess what? it totally Rocked!! I mean it was way soo wicked! err. I mean SiK! So anyway i absolutely love the crowd the people were so amazingly friendly!

Its a great feeling to know that we've inspired so many other young photographers, and artists tonight. It was such a powerful Vibe just to be there, the energy coming off of everyone was just amazing!! I absolutely loved hearing the comments good and bad it really helped me to understand what was important about our work and how it made people feel it was great to get back into those artist slippers.

Tonight we took our work to another level! We went beyond the veil, our work appealed not only to brides and grooms, but to the public, to other artists, politicians, chidren, teenagers, its an absolute pleasure to know that what we do is art, and can be appreciated by everyone. To know that we touched souls on a much more personal level is undescribable! Thank you to everyone for all of your well wishes and blessings.

CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY WEEKEND!!!

But we had fun...I helped shoot a wedding with "the David Dedios". Then, Chris and I had couple of senior sessions. We also had some friends, Jimmy and Jessica visiting from California. THEN!...our website was down because we exceeded our limit on bandwidth!!! TOO Many People Hitting Our Site! How awesome is that?! But, thankfully, bludomain took care of it with a click of a button. :) What can I say, we love them!
Jimmy wanted to spend some quality time with Chris ;) so he decided he could be an assistant on one of our Senior Sessions since our assistant was in Japan! He actually turned out to be EXCELLENT! Jimmy and Chris used to be in the Navy together back in the day.

Later that evening we headed out to dinner at Famous Daves, which is very good by the way. Here's Jimmy's better half, his beautiful wife Jessica.

YOU'RE INVITED

So with our first First Fiday Coming up we've decided to do a little preshow. So If you're reading this post you are invited!! We will open our doors at 8:00 pm and closing at 10pm, March 1st on a Thursday no less. I know I know, why so late? well there's no traffic, but I(Chris) actually have a prior engagement. So we'll have to start our little preshow after we're done.

Why come on Thursday If you can come on Friday? Have you been to First Fridays its a Mad house! Plus you probably won't be able to talk to us, because we'll be playing usher.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

So I've been Busting my Hinney for quite some time now just trying to get everything situated for our new office/gallery. Next Friday, The First Friday of the Month we are going to be up and running and we will be on the first friday Art Tour!!! We are soo excited, so excited in fact that I can't sleep! We have been quite busy with getting our office completed! It's been crazy!!! I think Chris is liking it though because his tools have somehow accumulated. I don't know how many times we've been to Home Depot. I personally, like shopping for the furniture.
Chris designed this wood structure the hangs beneath the ceiling. It's going to be beautiful! I love his design ideas. I'll be sure to post some more images when its completed!!!

Sooo yaaay!! We have a New Website!!! Thank you Bludomain! (http://www.bludomain.com) So We've been wanting to split our site and (drum roll) We Have!! Our Seniors now have the exclusive privilege of not thumbing through our Weddings and listening to fantasticly melodic music while they do it! Senior Session...
Shannon was worried she might be getting her Senior pics done a little late. Of course she didn't get hers done around the time when all the Seniors start calling for their Senior Session but she still didn't have anything to worry about. We had a great time getting to know her and she was so comfortable in front of the camera, which made really easy for us. Be sure to check out her slideshow! I love the song she chose. :o)

The Evans Family
We had a great time hanging out with the Evans family. Their home was amazing and I love how they maintained the style of its history throughout the whole house. Here are a few images.

Emmy looked amazing for just having a baby girl! She was such a doll and the center of attention the entire time! What can you expect for being the first grandchild. :o)

The Eppingers...Again! :o)
We had a great time meeting up with Nick and Erica again! This time we met the entire family. We did their family session at Monorchid which is also the new place of our office. We're not completely moved in yet but its coming soon!
Chris and I usually do our sessions on location only but this time we went a different route. I love all the white walls! Here are just a few images from their session.

Sweet Suprises...
This morning I woke up before Chris and Treston, which is a little unusual. I usually wake up to Treston's voice yelling "DAD!" from his room. He is such a daddy's boy. Chris tells me, "it's okay, you can have the next one" :o) Anyhow, as I'm getting ready for the day, I start thinking about everything I need to get done, and that started to become a little overwhelming to even think about! But I tried to keep a smile on my face. I thought it was working when Chris asked me, "what's wrong?" I simply replied, nothing's wrong. He gives me a big bear hug and a kiss on the forehead and that's when I start spilling my thoughts on him. He starts to apologize but I tell him he has nothing to apologize for. He then leaves to run a couple of errands in the morning. A little bit later he walks in with some beautiful flowers and of course that puts a huge smile on my face. Chris isn't really into giving flowers so when he gets me flowers its a HUGE thing! I felt better and realized that this is what matters. Right here, right now.
